Vouchers must be purchased online in advance to recieve discount. Weekday matinee parking can be purchased for $20 for 12. This is smaller than the Metropolitan Opera (3,800 seats) and the Chicago Lyric Opera (3,500 seats), but it follows the trend of larger capacity in American opera houses than the main European opera houses of the 19th century (Paris Opera Garnier 2,200, Royal Opera House London 2,268, Vienna State Opera 2,280, and La Scala 2,800). For Sunday matinees, valet parking is available beginning at 12:00 noon (time may vary for matinees with an earlier start time). We regret that valet parking is not available for patrons attending weekday dress rehearsals or weekday matinee performances. Valet service is also available to Lyric Opera patrons beginning at 5:00pm on performance evenings, regardless of curtain time. (In comparison, the largest opera house in Europe is the Opera Bastille in Paris, with 2,700 seats, followed by the Vienna Staatsoper, with capacity for 2,276.) The theater is an entire city block long and 8 stories high. If you are dropping off passengers with accessibility needs, approach the Opera House along the curb lane on Southbound Wacker Drive near the theater’s main entrance.
